Health, Cleanliness and Guest Wellbeing

While COVID-19 is no longer affecting travel in the way it once did, some guests still wish to understand the health and cleanliness practices of their accommodation.

We have therefore kept this page available to outline Treghan Lodge’s approach to guest wellbeing, cleanliness standards and current COVID-19 information for travellers visiting Kerikeri and the Bay of Islands.

The pandemic caused significant disruption to accommodation and tourism around the world. Today travel has largely returned to normal, and Treghan looks forward to welcoming guests to enjoy this beautiful part of the Bay of Islands – whether you are New Zealanders exploring the region or travellers visiting from overseas.

Our aim is always to ensure guests feel comfortable, relaxed and well looked after during their stay. Treghan has long maintained high standards of cleanliness and care, and we continue to follow best practices in hospitality hygiene and guest wellbeing.

Treghan’s layout and style of accommodation also naturally supports guest comfort and peace of mind.

Treghan Surestay Programme

Because Treghan offers private, self-contained guesthouses, guests naturally enjoy a spacious and private stay.

Each guesthouse is completely independent, allowing guests to relax in their own environment with minimal contact if they prefer.

Treghan has always maintained very high standards of cleanliness (as reflected in our guest reviews), and our Treghan Surestay Programme reinforces these practices.

Our approach includes:

• Full sanitising of touchable surfaces such as countertops and tables
• Hand sanitiser provided in each guesthouse
• Deep cleaning of high-touch areas including door handles, taps and light switches
• Application of Zoono Microbe Shield surface sanitiser as a final mist spray following cleaning
• Complete change of bed linen and bathroom linen after every guest
• Additional towels and amenities available in each guesthouse if guests prefer minimal servicing during their stay

Please note that Treghan Lodge does not provide facilities for guests requiring self-isolation.

Guest Wellbeing

Our team is trained to assist guests should they become unwell during their stay.

If you begin to feel unwell while staying with us, please contact us so we can help and ensure appropriate arrangements are made.

Hand sanitiser is available for staff and visitors at entry points to the property, and in each guesthouse for guest use.

COVID-19 Protection

New Zealand no longer operates the COVID “traffic light” system and there are currently no government requirements for masks or vaccine passes in accommodation settings.

Guests are of course welcome to wear masks if they prefer, and we are always happy to wear masks during interactions if requested.

If you have any questions or concerns before your stay, please feel free to contact us.
