Booking Terms and Policies
Important Things To Know
Please read these before booking. We reserve the right to change these conditions without notice.
Note we have been awarded the international Safe Travels Stamp from the World Trade and Tourism Council and are registered members of the Travel Industry Aotearoa, the Bed and Breakfast Association and the New Zealand Tourism Council. We operate under their suggestions and guidelines and highly recommend travel insurance to protect your plans.
Payment
Only Pay The Deposit When You Book
Secure your dates with a 30% deposit and pay the balance prior to arrival. This deposit is required to confirm a booking, with valid credit card details being provided – we accept Master Card or Visa. Payment of the deposit is confirmation of acceptance of the terms and conditions by the customer. Treghan is under no obligation to maintain the booking until the deposit has been paid.
Settlement of the remainder is required prior to arrival.
Any extras e.g. fishing licences, cruises, helicopter charges, etc. are payable by the guest to Treghan.
Pet Policy
Small dogs (but no puppies) are welcome by prior arrangement in one of our guesthouses. There is a weight limit of 15 kg and no puppies are able to stay with us. All dogs must be kept on a leash or harness at all times when not in the guesthouse, while they are on our property. While we love dogs of all varieties, we are lucky enough to have native birdlife, including kiwi, on each side of our property in the bush, so we have rules to protect them. Note the Owner’s Cottage is never available for pets. A nightly pet fee is charged – this varies according to the length of stay.
Cancellations
Treghan is an intimate boutique lodge and cancellations do affect us greatly. As a result, we adhere to a firm but flexible cancellation policy. We try to provide as much flexibility as possible as we recognise unexpected events do occur.
Note in all cases, failure to arrive at your accommodation with no notice will incur the full period charge. These terms are not available for bookings made through third party websites.
March – November
• We will make every endeavour to rebook the dates. In this case the 30% deposit will be refunded to you less $100 administration fee.
• Cancellations received within 10 days prior to arrival, incur a 100% cancellation fee* unless the dates are rescheduled.
• You may reschedule your booking or transfer it to friends or family (please let us know this).
December – February
• We will make every endeavour to rebook the dates. In this case the deposit will be refunded to you less $100 administration fee.
• Cancellations received between 10 and 30 days of arrival date, incur a 50% cancellation fee
• Cancellations received within 21 days of arrival date, incur a 100% cancellation fee
Postponement
If a booking is postponed at the customer’s request the following applies.
If a booking is postponed between 21 and 90 days prior to the date that the customer is scheduled to arrive at Treghan, the booking will be able to be rescheduled to a new date subject to availability. The new dates must be within 12 months of the postponed dates and a booking may only be postponed once. The relevant rate for the new dates will be charged.
Alternatively you may transfer your booking to family or friends as long as you let us know.
Lodge experiences or packages
When booking the Lodge experiences or packages please be aware that cancellations within 21 days of arrival will be charged fully on credit card.
Travel Insurance
We highly recommend you protect your plans with travel insurance. You just never know!
Travel in Confidence Covid-19 Peace of Mind
Travel with confidence, knowing flexibility is offered for change of plans if you or travel companion is diagnosed with Covid-19 or has been confirmed as a close contact, or government enforced travel restrictions across borders prohibit you from travelling at the time of your booking.
At the time of notice, with acceptable documentation, we will move your booking to a future date. The new dates must be within 12 months of the postponed dates and a booking may only be postponed once. The relevant rate for the new dates will be charged.These booking arrangements, Flexible Booking, means there are no additional penalty fees for those who book direct through our website.
In the case of a cancellation our normal cancellation policies apply.
We are not able to offer the same for bookings made through third party online booking websites.
We do recommend guests take out comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unexpected changes to your itinerary.
Additional Information
Arrival and Departure
Check in is from 3.00pm to 7.00pm unless by prior arrangement.
Check out is by 10.00 am unless by prior arrangement. We know it can be hard to leave but we need to get the guesthouses ready for the next guests. If you leave after 10.00am you’ll be charged $50.00 per half hour.

Tranquility Retreat: 4
Birdsong Retreat: 5
Owners Cottage: 3
Rates and Inclusions
All rates quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and inclusive of 15% GST. Rates as quoted are per two people per night and include breakfast provisions, servicing and use of the lodge facilities, for example the lodge gardens.
Damages
Accidents do happen. Please report any accidents or damage before you leave. If we need to charge for repairs or replacements this will be debited to your credit card.
Child Policy
Treghan Lodge welcomes children of all ages. Rates for children are available on request.
Dietary Needs
Please advise any special dietary needs at the time of booking. We will do our best to tailor breakfast provisions.
Smoking
No smoking or vaping in the guesthouses, please. Should you do so a $550.00 cleaning fee will be charged.
